If USB wireless adapter is it not detected by the computer or no lights on the USB adapter,try the following steps to isolate is the problem with computer or USB port or adapter itself is faulty.

First if you are using a extension usb cable from the computer to the adapter remove that and try directly connecting the adapter, If this solves the problem then the extension cable is faulty.

Still if no lights on the adapter or it is not detected by the computer, then try in different USB port on the computer,If this solves the problem the particular USB port is faulty.

Yet no lights on the adapter ,try it on a different computer.If the adapter is detected by the other computer then the first computer which we tried has to be checked (some times windows updates work for this issue)or if no lights in the new then wireless adapter has to be checked(faulty).
