March 7th, 2009 bala 1 comment

Recently I come across the issue with Sound Device after installing SP2 on Windows XP machine. When tried to installed the driver for the device from the manufacturer list I get “Driver Installation Failes : Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver

When I checked in Sound and Audio devices from control panel it says “No Audio Device Found

From the HP website I found three drivers installed for Sound Card. I choosed the third one that says “Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio“.

After installing the above mentioned driver, rebooted the computer. Went to device manager, Right Clicked on the device found under Sound and Video with exclamation, right clicked on it and updated the driver.

Got the sound back.

Unable to start Windows Audio End Point Builder Service - Windows Vista

If you lost the sound on your computer suddenly and if you have problem in installing the driver for the sound card then possibly the problem could be with the Windows Audio End Point Builder Service.

This service might stopped or corrupted. You can try starting the service, if the problem persist then you have to look at the registry settings.

Click Start -> Run
Type regedit and click Ok

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Audiosrv\DependOnService and remove all the offending values except RPCSS

Close the registry editor and reboot the computer.

Now reinstalled the driver for the sound card and make sure the Windows Audio End Point Builder Service is started.

Good Luck!
